Title
Interdisciplinary dimension of constitutional identity (Interdyscyplinarny wymiar tożsamości konstytucyjnej)
Project Leader
Prof. dr hab. Monika Florczak-Wątor
Faculty Researcher – member of the research team
Summary
The project is both scientific and didactic. Its goal in the scientific sphere is to initiate interdisciplinary research pertaining to the problem of constitutional identity, and in the didactic – to engage JU students representing different disciplines in the aforementioned research activities.
In legal research, the notion of constitutional identity is analysed very narrowly, in a manner that does not reflect the nature of the research problem. A legal understanding of constitutional identity is entirely incoherent with the popular (common) understanding of this notion. In the public discourse, constitutional identity is perceived as an element of national identity and stems from the defining characteristics of a particular nation, which are merely reflected and exhibited by the text of the constitution. The issue of constitutional identity requires an interdisciplinary analysis, taking into account the perspective of law, sociology, political sciences, psychology, and philosophy.
The project is organised in the form of a cycle of various scientific seminars. Researchers representing different disciplines will be invited to participate in seminars and consult the research results obtained by the students. The activities will result in a monograph about the interdisciplinary dimension of constitutional identity, based on scientific articles prepared by the students.
